All are invited to bring their pets to the Blessing of the Animals!

The ABCs of Christ Anglican Church

“B” is for the Blessing of the Animals

The annual Blessing of the Animals is a joyous tradition at Christ Anglican Church. The blessing is in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment. The Feast of St. Francis is observed by Christians around the world on October 4th.  Our event will be held during the Octave of St. Francis, on Saturday, October 9th at 9:00 a.m.

Animals and their caregivers will congregate in our beautiful courtyard. All animals are to be leashed or crated and under their caretaker’s control at all times.

There will be a short prayer service including the Blessing of the Animals, where Canon Dart will sprinkle the animals and their caregivers with Holy Water.  Each animal will receive a St. Francis medal.

We will also have a Storyteller share a story. Water will be provided for the animals as well as their caregivers.

We hope to see many of you there, even if you don’t currently have a pet. The event will be livestreamed on Facebook for those unable to attend.

Please help spread the word to neighbors in our community! Please see Leslie Wheeler if you would like to help post flyers in the Cave Creek/Carefree area.
